Celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA by visiting the Wall That Heals! Wyoming Welcomes the Wall that Heals to Star Valley Middle School in Afton, Wyoming, July 9-12. Its purposes are to:

  1. Provide opportunities for veterans and families affected by the Vietnam War to honor loved ones.

  2. Educate those who are unfamiliar with the Vietnam War via a mobile education center, tours, and special ceremonies.

Families are invited to welcome the wall as it arrives on July 8 by lining the highway with signage and flags.  The website www.thewallthathealsaftonwy2026.com will have a live feed as it travels closer to Afton, so those interested will be able to check the status in real time.

Since school will not be in session when the wall arrives, educators are invited to inform students about this opportunity. Lesson plans are available at this site: The War and The Wall Curriculum Set – Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund. The book The Wall written by Eve Bunting is another resource that could be used for younger children. Please refer to the flier for more information. Thank you!

Yearbook – Yearbook – Yearbook!!

Students who have prepaid for the 25-26 yearbook will be able to pick them up on the last day of school, upon check-out, after all fees are paid and library books turned in.  Thank you for your submissions this school year.  The staff did their best to include as many students as possible.

CLASSY – a continued focus at SVMS

Count Your Blessings – Look for the Good – Acts of Kindness – Self-Motivation – Service – You are Valued

As we come to a close at the end of May, it is our hope that students will remember the pillars of CLASSY and find use for them in their lives. Some students will move from SVMS to other schools and some will return next year. No matter where they go, we hope all students understand their value. Never forget “You Are Valued”. Begin with “I am”… smart, helpful, kind, loyal, fun, honest, hard working, playful, beautiful, etc…
