Hello from the 7th grade! We have had a wonderful start to our new year. Our teachers are working hard to help our Elementary/Middle School transition go well. We are having so much fun getting to know your amazing children. We have started our “Bingo” sheets which is an important school program that is organized in English Class. This program keeps our students reading independently and AR testing on their books. Please look over your student’s Bingo Sheet with them, to ensure they understand their active role. We also had the great opportunity to celebrate your students with a WYTOPP celebration day in school. We were thrilled with our WYTOPP scores last year, and wanted to make sure to recognize and reward all of our students who worked so hard. We celebrated with ice cream, and a pajama day. We look forward to many more wonderful moments this year at SVMS!

SVMS Robotics Club

SVMS Robotics will get underway starting Wednesday, October 16th, after school. Wondering if you want to participate or what it is all about? Watch FTC Into the Deep 2024-2025 game reveal - Students design, construct, program and drive robots in a competition, competing against other students in grades 7-12. Practices will be on Wednesdays for two hours after school. Competitions are on Saturday (Dec-Feb), usually three of them, dates to be determined. Space in Robotics Club is limited. If interested, see Mr. Winder to get sign-up information.

We are thrilled to announce that Star Valley Middle School has achieved remarkable success on the Wyoming Test of Proficiency and Progress, meeting or exceeding all measures with flying colors! Our dedicated students, passionate educators, and supportive community have come together to create an environment that fosters academic excellence. This outstanding accomplishment not only reflects the hard work and commitment of our students but also showcases the exceptional teaching and staff at Star Valley Middle School. We couldn’t be prouder of our school community and look forward to continuing this tradition of excellence in education. Congratulations to everyone involved!

Digital Citizenship and Cell Phones at SVMS

SVMS cell phone policy will include a “Digital Citizenship” course, a program designed to teach kids the skills they need to be safe and smart on digital devices. The classes began the first week of school and when complete each child will receive a sticker that verifies they have learned the skills to be a responsible digital device user. At this point, they will be “certified” to use a personal device at school during approved times and in designated areas. Digital Citizenship means being smart, alert, strong, kind, and brave. Parents who are involved with the online/phone safety conversation at home are essential to our efforts to help all students at the school learn the lessons of safety and etiquette in the digital world. Here are some areas to focus on with your child.

  • Protect themselves from digital threats, including bullies and scams

  • Get smart about sharing: what, when and with whom

  • Be kind and respectful toward other people especially on social media

  • Ask for help from a parent or other adult with tricky situations

What is Warrior Clan?

Warrior Clan is a rewards program for SVMS students based upon academic achievement and behavior. Each quarter students are rewarded with a school-wide activity to celebrate their hard work and achievement. Students work directly with their Stars teachers on a weekly basis as they progress towards achieving their Warrior Clan reward. Students also have the opportunity to regain points lost along the way. While teachers are there to help and support, this program is designed as a student motivator and helping students take responsibility for their success.

Quarter 1 Warrior Clan activities will be Tuesday, October 29th for 7th grade and Monday, November 4th for 8th grade.  Students will be going to Cache Valley Fun Park.
