Toys for Tots Collections at SVMS

Some students are working to collect toys as a service project during December. If you would like to contribute, please bring your donations to SVMS before December 18th.

Established in 1947, Toys for Tots is the U.S. Marine Corps’ premiere community action program and America’s most popular Children’s Christmastime Charity. Members of the community drop new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes that will be in the SVMS library. The toys will be picked up and taken to a  central warehouse where they are sorted by age and gender.  At Christmas, Coordinators, with the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies, distribute the toys to the less fortunate children of the community.  Over the years, Marines have established close working relationships with social welfare agencies, churches and other local community agencies which are well qualified to identify the needy children in the community and play important roles in the distribution of the toys.

While Toys for Tots Coordinators organize, coordinate and manage the campaign, the ultimate success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of the people who donate new, unwrapped toys.

December 18th will be the last day of donations at SVMS as toys are due to the collection center in Idaho Falls December 21st.

CLASSY – a continued focus at SVMS

Count Your Blessings – Look for the Good – Acts of Kindness – Self-Motivation – Service – You are Valued

S = Self-Motivation  — the second “S” of CLASSY is Self-Motivation. The ability to motivate yourself is an important skill. Self-motivation drives people to keep going even in the face of set-backs, to take up opportunities, and to show commitment to what they want to achieve.

“You should set goals beyond your reach so you always have something to live for.” ~  Ted Turner

“The greater danger for most of us isn’t that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it.” ~ Michelangelo
